If you’re like most people, you might be struggling to manifest more money. It seems like you’re doing all the right things and yet, the money isn’t flowing like it should. Maybe it’s time for a checkup on your relationship with the money you have now.

If you were to think of money as another person, how would you describe your relationship with money? Do you love money? Do you treat it well? Or are you an abusive partner to money? Here are 4 signs that you’re an abusive partner to money.

You’re too controlling

Do you spend a lot of time wondering where money is going? Are you watching it constantly? You can budget money and use it responsibly without being overly controlling. When you try to tightly control where your money is at all times, you strangle the flow of it. A key part of manifesting your desires, including money, is to surrender to the outcome. Allow money to surprise you. If you relax your control, you will find that you manifest more money easily.

You don’t believe it will be there for you

Are you the type of partner to money that doesn’t believe it’s going to be around when you need it? How do you approach money? Do you fret about whether you’ll have enough? Do you stress over meeting expenses and bills, certain that you’ll be caught with an unmet need? Or do you trust that when you need it, money will be there?

When we trust that we won’t be left alone in our hour of need, we find more flow in life, especially with money. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t prepare for needs by having a rainy day fund. If we trust money to be there when we need and take aligned action like setting up a rainy day fund, our money will flow with more ease. Watch how easily you’ll build your rainy day fund from this energy of trust.

You don’t trust it to come back

How do you spend your money? Do you worry when you spend money that there won’t be more? Or do you spend, trusting that the money will return. Just like partner, when we cling to them for fear of them not coming back, we actually push them away.

The next time you spend money, try saying “I can’t wait to see you again” to your money. By doing this you’ll be setting a powerful intention that you expect your money to come back to you. In fact, you’ll know that it’s on it’s way home to you. This shift will allow you to more easily manifest more money. After all, the first step in improving your relationship with money is to learn to trust that it will be there.

You take it for granted

How do you feel when you receive money? Disappointed that it’s not more? Or are you excited and grateful for it? It’s not uncommon for people to receive money and be distressed that it isn’t more.

Try instead, taking a moment to be thankful for all the money will allow you to do or have. Money is just energy. It’s a tool. Whenever you receive money, whether it’s your paycheck or a gift, take a moment to acknowledge all the good the money will enable in your life. When we stop taking money for granted and truly appreciate it, we attract more of it.

If money were a person, many of us would be seen as monsters in our relationship with it. I’ve outlined 4 signs that you’re an abusive partner to your money. Shift these and you’ll make a powerful shift in your energy around money. You’ll find that money begins to flow for you with far more ease. Love your money and be good to it, and it will be good to you in return.
