In this episode, I'm sharing the second half of my conversation with rewilding guide and drum witch, Sarah Monroe. If you didn't listen to the first half, go back to episode 39 and listen to it. Sarah offers some wonderful advice for spiritual entrepreneurs. In this half of the conversation, we talk more about Sarah's personal work and soul mission. And towards the end, Sarah drops some more wisdom for new spiritual entrepreneurs.
The Temple of the Rebel Goddess
Sarah is the co-creatrix of the Temple of the Rebel Goddess. In our conversation, she talks about the process of realizing that the work she was doing with Sam Spychalla really required a physical location. This led to the creation of the temple. Today, the temple features classes, workshops, movement, storytelling and opportunities to do hands on work making physical things in a sacred space. The \temple serves as a physical place to experience the Divine Feminine.
Discovering the Divine Masculine
At the temple, they also maintain an altar to the Divine Masculine which is a powerful archetype of masculinity. The Divine Masculine is radically different from the toxic and patriarchal masculinity that is dominant in our society today. Sarah describes her experience discovering the Divine Masculine and how she's incorporated it into her work.
In talking about her work, one question that arises is "What exactly is 'rewilding'?". Sarah describes it beautifully by evoking images of childhood. Remember that timeframe when you were free and wild? You didn't have a lot of judgments and you experienced the world in a more raw and unfiltered way? For Sarah, that is rewilding. Finding the magic in the world all over again and falling in love with it.
Starting a spiritual business
When asked what advice she'd offer to someone just beginning their journey as a spiritual entrepreneur, Sarah gave a few important tidbits. The main one which she visited in the previous episode as well is that you'll never feel ready. If you wait to be ready, you'll never do it. Jump in and start doing.
Another one that she offered, which resonated with me, is that there really is no such thing as an overnight success. We're taught to believe that if we do it "right" that we'll suddenly succeed and become an overnight sensation. Social media also reinforces this because we don't see the struggles that business owners experience on their way to success. This leads to frustration when the overnight success doesn't happen.
There's so much good in this episode. These are just a few highlights, but you really need to listen to the whole episode and experience the passion behind Sarah's words. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed having this conversation.
